IKD and KMU Launch Certificate Course in Andro-Urology
The Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD) Hayatabad, Peshawar, in collaboration with Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has introduced a groundbreaking program titled Certificate in Andro-Urology – the first of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, designed to enhance the expertise of medical professionals in reproductive medicine and infertility treatment. KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq handed over the course launching notification to IKD Associate Professor Dr. Mir Abid Jan, who expressed his gratitude and highlighted how the collaboration will strengthen ties between IKD and KMU and open new avenues for addressing infertility and sexual health issues in the region.
Scheduled to commence in January, this six-month certification program is tailored for medical doctors, with 20 participants enrolled per session. Through a structured curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience, participants will learn to manage infertility and male sexual health cases using evidence-based approaches, and to address societal stigmas and misconceptions when educating and counselling patients. The curriculum includes comprehensive training in reproductive endocrinology, semen analysis, assisted reproductive technologies (ART) including IVF/ICSI, and microsurgical techniques.
Inauguration of the Certification Course in Andro-Urology
The certification course in Andro-Urology was inaugurated by Dr. Mir Abid Jan at the Institute of Kidney Diseases, Hayatabad Medical Complex, in collaboration with Khyber Medical University. The first session, on the basics of Andro-Urology, was conducted over Saturday and Sunday.

The Uro-Andrology Unit at the Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD), Peshawar, organised a one-day live workshop on male infertility, chaired by Assistant Professor & Unit Incharge Dr. Mir Abid Jan. The programme brought together senior faculty from IKD for state-of-the-art lectures on managing azoospermia and varicocele, followed by live surgical demonstrations of microsurgical varicocelectomy, microscopic vasoepididymostomy, TESA and TEFNA.
